Something I found in the common core standards was that they wanted students to compare and contrast films or productions of text and how closely they matched. This wasn't something I remember ever doing in school but something I think would be fun and interesting to do. The other one I liked was when it said make strategical use of digital media because I feel like especially in English its easy to forget the importance of using digital media. And I think that using digital media will help a broader number of students have better understanding of what we would be teaching.

I haven't had much experience with graphic novels besides reading Batman in Dr.Greens class. but I do think they would be helpful to have graphic novel options in my class. I believe this because we do see a lot of students who are simply bored with reading therefore they have a really hard time comprehending books and finishing them. because of this I think the visuals on graphic novels keep kids entertained and helps them comprehend the storyline much better because it is laid out infant of them. Also, I think a lot of students are just a lot better with graphic novel books because the color of the pictures in graphic novels catches their eye so much more than the typical black and white text in normal books. Since I haven't had a lot of experience with graphic novels myself I'm excited to read more and get more experience with them so I can help students using them in the future.

I really enjoyed reading through this. one aspect that I was most interested in was the idea of a classroom based around discussions. I feel like a lot of my college courses especially in the English Major have bee a similar type of class to this, where we use our discussions in class to help us learn and come up with new ideas and the class time is really lead by the students. I think this is important because it will make a way for every student to have a voice and be included in each class every day.

Hey guys! So after reading through the standards I think that through my college classes I am well prepared for most of those expectations. However, I don't think I have learned much from the Knowledge and Understanding of The Reading Process. While the classes at Eastern have taught me a lot about the writing process and reading comprehension. The reading process is still a large weakness of mine. The other section I think I could work on is the Instructional Methodologies. But, I think this class and future classes in the Ed program will help me be better in this area.
